At first glance, the story of Digital Arrow’s Aquanox Deep Descent is exactly about this: the third part of the Aquanox series, which successfully raised the required amount with the help of Kickstarter, soon went into radio silence, only occasionally making itself felt. The game seems to have been forgotten by both the players and the authors. But it seemed to work out: at the end of September, the release date was announced, several videos appeared, and three weeks later the release arrived.

Aquanox and Aquanox 2: Revelation , released in the early 2000s, can hardly be considered super hits, but these games certainly did not go unnoticed. The series was praised for both the original setting and the interesting storyline. As for the gameplay, it was an arcade simulator of a combat submarine ship, somewhat reminiscent of space, but with much lower speeds and in a completely different environment.
Deep descent- a direct continuation of this underwater dilogy. In the distant future, a global cataclysm forced people to leave the land and move into the underwater depths. Humanity (more precisely, its meager remnants) is fighting for survival: the ocean is reluctant to share resources, and the rivalry between several associations of people that have replaced states and nations is making itself felt. Each faction survives as best it can – some try to live in peace with nature and neighbors as much as possible, others, on the contrary, do not shy away from taking away from the weak and snarling at the strong.
The scriptwriters could not invent anything better than taking as the main characters the four who just emerged from suspended animation and suffering from amnesia. A former bandit, scientist, spy, special forces fighter – a motley audience, but only these guys are able to solve the main mystery of the ocean and return hope to the remnants of humanity. The story is replete with cliches and suggests that the plot was clearly not a priority for the developers. Sometimes the banality goes off scale so much that you catch yourself thinking: well, you can’t do it so badly, isn’t it an intentional move by the scriptwriters – the plot is presented as if in games twenty years ago?
