Hoyoverse, the company behind Genshin Impact and the Honkai series, is preparing a new RPG. The game is called Zenless Zone Zero, it’s an urban fantasy game with lots of colorful characters. Hoyoverse announced the game on Friday, releasing the first trailer. Zenless Zone Zero doesn’t have a release date yet, but Hoyoverse allows players to register for the closed beta on the game’s website .
According to Hoyoverse’s announcement, Zenless Zone Zero takes place in a metropolitan city after some kind of apocalyptic disaster. Hollows are portals to another dimension that appear out of nowhere and can let monstrous beings known as Ethereals into our world. While the Ethereals destroyed much of human civilization, the people of New Eridu managed to survive by extracting resources and technology from the monsters’ domain to use for themselves.
Players take on the role of a Proxy, a guide to helping other people explore the Hollows. As proxies, they will take many different characters with them on their adventures through the Nether, all the while fighting the Ethereal and combining the abilities of other characters in the squad for more powerful combos and more damage.
Hoyoverse has yet to announce all platforms for the game; The closed beta test is only available on iOS devices and PC .
