Outer expanses are inhabited by a variety of races, differing from people in appearance and general worldview.

The storyline starts in 2944, with the departure of a spaceship called Aspero. It began its journey from the planet Geilar, and near the end of their journey, anomalous activity was seen overboard, which turned out to be a robbery attempt by a previously unseen alien race. The gamer gets the role of a Legionnaire – an elite super fighter, who is one of the many genetically enhanced creatures that can withstand entire armies alone. It is the controlled character who will have to protect Aspero from robbers and figure out what the new species is, what their plans are, where other data lives.
The gameplay is pretty standard for shooters of those times. The user needs to move through linear locations with a small amount of lighting and shoot with numerous enemy creatures. The on-screen interface consists of a crosshair in the middle of the monitor and three indicators at the bottom – health, armor and ammo. The barrels are futuristic versions of modern weapons with the addition of fictional laser guns.
